Programs and Community

Sharing science with the next generations:
I've had a multi-decade commitment to equity and outreach, earning a C.V. Starr fellowship for public service as an undergrad for coordinating and volunteering for an outdoor leadership and mentoring program for underserved communities in Providence, RI, working with at-risk and adjudicated youth in Utah and South Carolina, working for six years as a high school math teacher in underserved and heterogeneous communities in San Francisco and Redwood City, CA, or founding and leading an internship program pairing high school kids in local underserved communities with biologists at the Hopkins Marine Station. My fundamental beliefs are in collaborative decision making, sharing resources, advancing equity, and providing all with opportunities to succeed by removing barriers of racism, sexism and classism in society.
